Services For Faculty
The AHC Learning Commons provides support to health professions faculty and students to learn about, experience, and practice contemporary forms of teaching and learning that support clinical decision-making and problem-solving. Staffed by members of the AHC Office of Education and the Bio-Medical Library, our on-site consultants have expertise in instructional design, Web development, information management, and educational technology.
- Faculty Education
Take part in workshops and seminars on critical education-related topics. These services are free of charge.
- Student Experiential Learning With Technology
Reserve the Learning Commons to provide your students with small-group learning opportunities or to have them complete educational exercises that require the use of various technologies. These services are free of charge. Use the Room Request Form to reserve space for your students.
- Customized Technology-Enhanced Courseware Development
Work with Learning Commons consultants to develop specific applications of technology-enhanced learning, such as web- or video-conferencing, videography, or the development of interactive, online courses. These customized, course-related services are billed at an hourly rate.
- Technology-Enhanced Learning Tools
Use technology-enhanced learning tools in your courses.
Learn about a wide range
of existing online tools for enhancing Web-based courses, including online games, case-study templates, and video tools such as Breeze that are easy to incorporate into online courses. These services are free of charge.
- Web- and Video-Conferencing
Use web-conferencing to conduct online courses and meetings from your desktop computer, or to capture and archive the audio and PowerPoint slides of a live presentation. Use video-conferencing to avoid the hassles of travel. These services are billed at an hourly rate.

* Instructors of courses that involve small-group learning and/or interprofessional activities may choose to schedule a series of uses of small-group rooms at the beginning of a semester to ensure availability for their students.

Fees
Use of the AHC Learning Commons is free of charge for faculty education programs and student experiential programs according to the Scheduling and Use Guidelines found on this Web site. There are no fees to use the large group, small group, or individual spaces in the Learning Commons. Users will also not be charged to use most of the technology (computers, specific software, etc.). However, please schedule these spaces before use (even if you schedule it right before you use it.)
Most one-on-one and small-group consulting and support by Learning Commons personnel is free of charge. Some technology services - such as video- or web-conferencing, videography, instructional design, and Web development - are offered as charged services by members of the AHC Office of Education.
