Summary
You've now completed the fourth section of Parkinson's Disease: An Overview. In this section, we looked at the four core symptoms that indicate a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease:
- Tremor
- Rigidity
- Akinesia (or bradykinesia)
- Postural changes.
Some additional symptoms that are commonly experienced by individuals with Parkinson's disease - especially after a number of years - include:
- Cognitive dysfunction
- Gait and postural difficulties
- 'On' and 'off' periods of mobility and motor skills
