Janet Shanedling, Ph.D., Director, Educational Development;
Director, AHC Learning Commons
Janet's expertise is in the development of curriculum and instructional programs for health care professionals. In addition, she has extensive experience in the application of technology-based learning and teaching processes. Before joining the AHC Office of Education, Janet was an independent consultant designing and developing curriculum and instructional programs for clients primarily in the pharmaceutical and medical products industries. She also created programs and trained individuals and teams in the area of Emotional Intelligence. Janet received her Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instructional Design from the University of Minnesota.

Marshall Hoff, Manager, Learning Commons, Technical Coordinator for the Fairview-University Telemedicine Network
Marshall has been employed at the University of Minnesota since 1971. Since 1992, he has been involved in various videoconferencing projects emphasizing the integration of video technologies with telehealth and distance learning. Besides coordinating videoconferencing, he has worked on numerous multimedia, video and photographic projects for the AHC. Marshall is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a major in Speech/Communication. |

Cindy A. Gruwell, Associate Librarian and Coordinator of Instruction, Bio-Medical Library
Cindy is a reference librarian at the University of Minnesota Bio-Medical Library, which serves the Academic Health Center. In addition, she serves as the Bio-Med Library Instructional Services Coordinator for the AHC Learning Commons. Cindy develops and coordinates library instruction, which includes database-searching skills, advanced literature searching for evidenced based practices, PDA/handheld resources, PowerPoint and bibliographic software (RefWorks). She has recently completed phases 1 and 2 of the Bio-Med Library PDA Charter, which addresses the use of subscription and other software within the Academic Health Center community. Cindy graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s in History and a Masters in Library Science. |

Manda Lo, Web Developer
Manda has created a variety of online courses and Web sites as both a developer and graphics specialist. She is proficient in numerous web-based technologies and software applications and has contributed to projects in various health-related fields, including Epidemiology's smoking cessation program. Also, in her current position within the AHC Office of Education's internal service organization, Learning Commons, Manda specializes in online course development and implementation. She is a graduate of Tufts University with a major in biology. |
